The Top Five Regrets of the Dying: A Life Transformed by the Dearly Departing

Author: Bronnie Ware

Years ago I lived through watching my beloved and brilliant grandparents slowly die of cancer that had metastasized throughout their body, and it was a devastating experience.

This was so impactful and life-changing for me that it made me stop in my tracks and think (and rethink) very hard about my own life and how I’m operating in the world, and what I truly want. It moved me to actually change how I’m living.

This share is aimed at helping people overcome their challenges and live a happier, more fulfilling life.

I came across this book years ago and since then have been trying to live a regret free life. The five regrets of the dying are as follows:

1️⃣ I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

2️⃣ I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.

3️⃣ I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.

4️⃣ I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

5️⃣ I wish that I had let myself be happier.

I know death is a taboo topic, especially for those of us living in the West, which is odd since we are culture that loves certainty and death really is the only thing certain.

The overarching theme in this book is: Life is sacred. Bring as much consciousness to the choices you make on a daily basis. Take courageous action. And know you truly are worthy of joy.

As are with all things I post here, here is my invitation to select one of the 5 regrets that might need your attention and suggest you make a commitment to work on its prevention over the next year.
