Reading, reflecting and writing after finding inspiration in my favorite book and after a recent book review given by one of my go-to people for awesome book recommendations; Julien Leblanc.
This book is for any and everyone but particularly for those who are not afraid to admit that as they continue to grow, they see the world in a totally different light.
Marianne Williamson said it best in a quote you might have already heard:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
For those of us who are constantly learning, growing, evolving, we self sabotage, here are some reflections as I re-read this book:
🌱 Every time I’ve made the decision to change who I am to reflect my growth, I’ve been scared. It’s scary to tell the world that you’re different than who they’ve already accepted.
🌱 But I’ve realized habits, customs and traditions are not necessities. I’ve also realized some people will accept you only because it fits their agenda – not necessarily because who you are is in your best interest.
🌱 With these realizations, comes the opportunity to live a life of moral consistency, and let me tell you, it is quite liberating. Never be afraid to evolve, from my experience, you’ll love the new you(s)!
But you didn’t need me to tell you this, Dr. Seuss told us this already:
“You’ll look up and down streets. Look ’em over with care.
About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.”
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
You’re too smart to go down any not-so-good street.
And you may not find any you’ll want to go down.
In that case, of course, you’ll head straight out of town.”
