Facilitating Breakthrough: How to Remove Obstacles, Bridge Differences, and Move Forward Together

Author: Adam Kahane

This has been the #1 most recommended book to me of 2021!

It was on my TBR list and after attending a session hosted by Shakil Choudhury Cofounder of Anima Leadership, an organization with a vision for ‘leadership for a world where all people matter and belong’, I knew, I not only had to read it, but also bring this book to my next book club meeting!

I can’t possibly do a book review because I won’t do it justice but a recommendation is superficial if I don’t share ‘why’ you should read it so here some important facts:

📖 Author Adam Kahane is Director of Reos Partners, an international social enterprise that helps people move forward together on their most important and intractable issues.

📖 Adam has been writing books that share his reflections and insights from a career working with high-stakes, multi-party social change initiatives.

📖 Facilitating Breakthrough: How to Remove Obstacles, Bridge Differences, and Move Forward Together, provides a grounded theory to the practice of transformative facilitation that helps groups collaborate well in the pursuit of social change.

📖 Half the book is theory which I enjoyed and the other half offered me a fresh perspective on facilitation and a new framework for developing my own practice.

The perfect book to discuss on a chilly Saturday morning in my favorite local cafe, and in the first face to face Book Club in a long while!
